Domaine Alain Graillot Crozes-Hermitage 2021

Domaine Alain Graillot is a benchmark producer in Crozes-Hermitage, in the Northern Rhône of France.  Founded by Alain Graillot in 1985, the estate became known for precise, old-vine Syrah and a style that combines purity, freshness, and a distinctly Rhône character.

This 2021 Crozes-Hermitage is typically expressive and savoury, with black cherry, blackberry, violet, white pepper, and a hint of smoke or cured meat.  The palate is medium-bodied and lively, with firm but refined tannins, bright acidity, and a mineral, spicy finish.

It pairs well with grilled lamb, roast duck, beef, and game bird.  It also works nicely with sausages, mushroom dishes, and roasted vegetables, especially when herbs and pepper are part of the seasoning.
